QR code at the front desk for the local area

By M. Moes · Published on 22 October 2026

A QR code at the front desk lets your guest open the map of the surroundings on their own phone. They scan the code, see what there is to do nearby and need no app or account. That way you reach guests after they have booked, during the stay itself.

Why during the stay?

Most local information sits on the website, where guests look before they book. But the question "what shall we do today?" only comes up on site. At that moment the guest wants to find something quickly, and the QR code is the shortest path.

How it works

  1. You download the print-ready QR code from your dashboard.
  2. You print it and put it out, for example in a stand.
  3. The guest scans it with their phone camera.
  4. They see the map of your location's surroundings, in their own language.

Good places for the code

  • At the front desk, next to the check-in list.
  • In the room or the cabin, with the welcome information.
  • At the entrance of the campsite or park.
  • In the welcome email, as an image.

What you gain

Your staff repeat the same tips less often. Guests find something that suits their day. And in the statistics you see which places get clicked.

Tips for accommodations

What is there to do nearby? Guests ask first

Guests almost always ask at check-in what there is to do nearby. If your website answers that, you have to repeat it less often at the front desk.

The local area in your digital guest directory

A digital guest directory holds everything guests need to know about their stay. The local area is one part of it. NearPin provides that part, plus a page guests open with a QR code.
